Online Audio Tone Generator
Our Tone Generator is a free, professional-grade web utility that creates pure audio frequencies ranging from 1Hz up to 24,000Hz. Whether you are tuning a musical instrument, conducting a science experiment, clearing water from your phone speaker, or testing your hearing range, this tool provides a highly accurate, continuous audio signal.
How to Use the Frequency Generator
We designed the interface to mimic professional studio equipment while remaining incredibly easy to use:
- Set Your Frequency: Use the slider to find a general frequency, or click inside the large digital display to type an exact number (like 432 for A432 tuning). You can also use the fine-tuning buttons (-1, +1) for absolute precision.
- Select a Waveform:
- Sine: A smooth, clean, and pure tone. Best for hearing tests and tuning instruments.
- Square: A harsh, rich sound with odd harmonics. Often used in retro video game sound design.
- Sawtooth: A very bright and buzzing sound containing all integer harmonics. Great for synthesizer programming.
- Triangle: Softer than a square wave but brighter than a sine wave.
- Adjust Volume & Play: Set your computer volume to a comfortable level, adjust the tool's volume slider, and hit Play!
Understanding Human Hearing
The standard human hearing range is generally stated as 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz (20 kHz). However, this changes based on age and hearing health. Most adults gradually lose the ability to hear extremely high frequencies (above 15,000 Hz) as they get older. You can use this tool to safely test the upper limits of your hearing—just be sure to keep the volume at a moderate level to protect your ears!
100% Private and Runs Offline
This tool relies entirely on the native HTML5 Web Audio API built into your web browser. No audio files are downloaded, and no usage data is sent to external servers. The audio is synthesized directly on your device's sound card, ensuring perfect, lag-free performance.
